In 1994 we imagined the possibility of everyone having the internet.

In 2007 we imagined if everyone had a smartphone.

In 2017 we imagine everyone will have their genome.

After many months of formative work, we are tremendously excited to announce our new company: HumanCode.

We’re creating the future of personal genomics.

At HumanCode, we’re building the next-generation of personal genomics applications to help people achieve their greatest potential.

There are two forces converging which make this opportunity so exciting.

  1. A cost reduction in genome sequencing which has outpaced even Moore’s law. Just 15 years ago, the cost of sequencing a single person’s genome was around $100 million. Today, it’s less than $1,000 for whole genomes, and significantly less for highly functional units of genetic data for purpose built apps like ours.
  2. A corresponding massive surge in what we know about the genome via published research. Lower costs have meant more data availability and have drawn more research projects to focus on genomics. We know more about the impact of our genes today than ever — and we still know very little compared to how much there is to know.

The genome is the next emerging platform - we envision a future where most people will have their genome sequenced at some stage in life…

HumanCode was formed to create the applications and experiences that enable people to improve their lives through better understanding of their genetics.

This shared passion brings together a uniquely creative and talented team of scientists, designers, and software developers — based from our headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

Our products will be available exclusively on the Helix platform — and you can try our first product, BABYGlimpse, starting today.

We hope you’ll join us on this journey and as always, we want your input!

The internet, smartphones, and personal genomics are not yet, in fact, available to “Everyone”. We recognize that they remain out of reach for certain groups of people, be it for financial, political, geographic or other reasons. We’re looking for partners in the non-profit world who can help us develop a plan to bring personal genomics to the broadest possible group of people. Please get in touch with ideas or inquiries on this (email hello@humancode.com).
