If you cannot find one, it’s time to rethink your business.

The number of start-ups and businesses is growing rapidly.

Just being creative with your product and services is not going to woo the market.

Customers and clients want more than just a product, they want an emotion. They notice and remember the things they feel moved from. Emotions are best fostered with a story. I would even argue that storytelling is the oldest proven way to move someone emotionally.

Since we are social creatures, it’s in our second nature to seek attention. Adversely, we also love to give our attention. This happens only when the story is unique yet relatable. A humane connection is made through trust. And trust cannot be bought through a product or a service, it can just be built. Mainly through the consistency of your story.

A potential customer should be able to relate to your brand’s vision and mission. For that, you need to cut through the noise and communicate your story. An amazing tip is to be open about your struggles and challenges. Nobody is perfect. So, no point in pretending to be. Humans relate to each other through struggles and obstacles we face. More than building trust, these hurdles point towards your grit and perseverance. These are top qualities to exude to get people to stand by your brand.

Building businesses and getting people’s support becomes easier when you have a story to tie it to. Therefore, before starting a business, frisk it for a story. If you cannot find one, it’s time to rethink your business.
