humanID and GreenZone: Putting Privacy Rights Into Practice
Building safer communities in the online and offline worlds starts with accountability and authenticity.
humanID is excited to announce our partnership with GreenZone!
Placing equitable practices and services at the forefront, GreenZone’s app puts rights into practice. On this new app, users rate and review local businesses and locations based on social responsibility and safety-comfort, from mask compliance to inclusion of gender-neutral bathrooms. These ratings help members make informed decisions about their safety and well-being before visiting new places.
GreenZone and humanID are both non-profits working to put privacy control and data management back into users’ hands. Since the app handles information sensitive to different identity groups, privacy and user agency are core values to GreenZone.
Anonymity is key to the app’s success — and this is where humanID steps in. Our integration with the app supports our shared mission to improve privacy, accountability, and equity on- and offline.
Privacy in Practice
With humanID’s verification system, everyone gets one anonymous, digital identity — no tracking, and no identification. By logging in through our single sign-on (SSO), users can honestly and comfortably report their experiences without fear of being identified.
Not to mention, by only assigning one identity per person, humanID precludes bots and bad faith users from spamming the app with disingenuous reviews. This translates to accurate and accountable aggregated ratings, reviews, and reporting.
“This partnership isn’t just about crowdsourcing accurate reviews — it’s about meaningfully representing people’s experiences and safety concerns,” said humanID co-founder Shuyao Kong. “Our goal is to make sure no one’s online identity is vulnerable, so users can freely express themselves.”
After registering with humanID, future log-ins are a simple, one-click process. No passwords, no inconvenience. Total security.
Once logged in to GreenZone, users will be able to find safe locations and businesses to explore, check in, and review. When individuals retain their privacy, communities bear the benefit.
Building Better Communities
Together, humanID and GreenZone place the tools to advocate for change in users’ hands. While GreenZone works to advocate for more equitable practices based on user identity and experiences, humanID works on the front end to protect users’ digital identities. Building safer communities in the online and offline worlds starts with accountability and authenticity.
In other words, we’re creating a safe space to self-report and hold businesses accountable. Simply by using the app, accurate data is provided for activists and policymakers, forging a path toward systemic change. Users can make a change in their own communities, with no trade-offs or compromises to their privacy.
GreenZone’s beta launched in early September. You can currently get early access to the app on the Google Play store, and it will soon be available on the App store.
