Greetings, human!

August has been an amazing month for us. We’ve made great strides in this project and we’re so excited to see what this month brings. As usual, we will present you some updates from this week so let’s get rolling!

Android & Web SDK Development Update

This past week, our Android developer has been busy putting finishing touches on the UI. The next thing we’re going to develop is the push notification system. As for our web SDK, we decided to use FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) legacy API to push messages. We’ve added new fields to store platform type and serverKey to differentiate between Android and iOS platform. All these changes can be viewed on github.

iOS App & SDK Development Update

Our team brainstormed the most practical and efficient way to develop this project and we thought that it would be troublesome to rely on SDK (by utilizing URL scheme) to perform cross-app login. The biggest concern we have with this is that users need to restart their devices every time an app with humanID SDK is deleted to check for a new URL scheme. This will negatively affect the UX. So far the most reasonable solution we came up with is to develop humanID app that will act like a local server on the device. This app will only be used to receive push notification for web login, storing login hash, and storing deviceID.

Business Updates

We have submitted our application for Open Technology Fund, a program that supports open technologies and communities that increase free expression, circumvent censorship, and obstruct repressive surveillance as a way to promote human rights and open societies. We also applied for Awesome Foundation Grant, a program that gives grants to projects in various sectors including technology, arts, community development, and more. So, fingers crossed! We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop.
