Announcing Design for Humanity Partnership with the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations

New York — The Design For Humanity Summit is proud to be supported by the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations.

The Design For Humanity Summit aims to bridge the gap between design and humanitarian action. This event supports Ireland’s mission to promote human rights and dignity around the world.

“Ireland joined the UN as a young, independent republic just over sixty years ago. It is as important to us now as it was to us then. A strong multilateral system is vital today at a time of increasing global insecurity and resultant humanitarian crises.

Ireland is proud to partner with the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs on this important Summit. As we face crises in Syria, Yemen and South Sudan, to name but a few, I think it is safe to say, we have no time to lose,” says H.E. Geraldine Byrne Nason, the Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations.

“Ireland has contributed greatly to the work of the United Nations since joining in 1955, and we see in them a partner that is willing to break down the walls that currently separate the humanitarian sector from all of the innovations of the private sector. We are thrilled to welcome them as a partner in the Summit,” added Brendan Cahill, IIHA Executive Director.

We are honored to have Ambassador Byrne Nason offer the opening remarks for the Summit and Seán Ó hAodha, Deputy Director of the Humanitarian Unit of Irish Aid, offering the Irish perspective on how design and storytelling are key forces in driving humanitarian advocacy.

We look forward to seeing you at the Design For Humanity Summit on June 22nd!
