Course Spotlight: Strategic Issues in Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva
February 1, New York — The global humanitarian sector is at a crossroad. The world is witnessing the biggest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. The increased number of conflicts and disasters, climate change, urbanisation, and the largest refugee crisis since the World War II have a major impact on the vulnerabilities of the world’s population. The theory and practice of humanitarianism continuously evolves in response to changes in the international political and economic environment and intriguing evaluation of humanitarianism efforts.
In light of these developments, the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs is currently accepting applications from prospective students for the Strategic Issues in Humanitarian Affairs course taking place in Geneva from April 29-May 3, 2019.
Through a humanitarian dialogue, lectures and case studies, the Strategic Issues course explores humanitarian affairs that will play a vital role in shaping humanitarian action in the future. Topics will range from Humanitarian Principles, IHL, Refugees, and migrants to the Grand Bargain; from Digitalisation of Humanitarian Aid, Integrity and Trust to the Humanitarian Financing Landscape.

This course is offered through Fordham University’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. This course can be taken as a stand-alone class or as part of the Master of Arts in International Humanitarian Affairs (MIHA). The MIHA program is a 32-credit multidisciplinary program offering intensive courses, held globally to enhance the skillset and academic knowledge of humanitarian professional who have worked in the field for at least 5 years.
Fee information
$1600 for academic credit | $915 as non-academic credit | The cost includes tuition, materials, coffee breaks, and lunch.
