Humanities for the People is a project to advance the relevance and reach of social and cultural study. It is organized by OSUN’s Hannah Arendt Humanities Network, in partnership with Universidad de los Andes, and currently directed by Gregory J Lobo. It held its first writing retreat at the Gladstone Library, Wales, UK in July 2023, the goal of which was — and in future iterations will be — to provide time and space for a group of writers to engage in focused and sustained writing on topics that are relevant to people beyond those currently interested in the humanities for professional or formal reasons.

The Humanities for the People project is open to contributions from all those interested in making academic work on culture and society more relevant and accessible, and seeks to promote reflection on issues of universal relevance. Participation in the project should align with the core open society values and practices of civil criticism and intellectual humility. Submit pieces of around 1500 words to humanitiesforthepeople@gmail.com.
