The Secret Roadmap Behind the New iPhone's 3D Touch

Now I don’t have any inside information but I’m a product guy and like most product chaps, I read everything there is to read about Apple.

And what I know about Apple is that they don’t ever think about things in terms of tomorrow. They think about things in terms of the next decade. So when Apple names something with “3D” in it, you have to stop short for a second and think about why. And then you immediately think about what’s coming next.

And then I think about Facebook and Oculus and virtual reality. And I think about Apple’s continued investment in camera technology. And then I think about Google’s 3D video. And then I think about the inelegant bulge of the iPhone 6 and 6S camera lens. And then I think about moving the two cameras (one on the front and one on the back) to the top of the phone and making it 360 degrees.

And then I think about 3D Touch on an iPhone 8 screen and being transported inside an immersive 3D video on a 2D glass frame. And then I think about Airplaying that from the iPhone to my VR headset.

And then I think about being on the shore of Laguna Beach even though my ass is sat firmly in my New York City dreary office in the middle of winter.

And then I think about buying some stock in $AAPL.
