Time.

It can be such an elusive resource. We often feel like we don’t have enough time, that now is not the right time, that time will come some other… time.

And given how much life has changed over the past year, this feeling that we are lacking time makes so much sense!

We have had to totally shift the way we spend our days, weeks, weekends, months. So much to do, so little time.

It can become stressful, this rush and pressure can make us anxious and living in an ever-repeating spiral, morning till dawn, of being too late, too slow, not enough.

This quote from the movie In time (link to trailer here) struck me as very relevant to this:

I don’t have time. I don’t have time to worry about how it happened. It is what it is. Time is now the currency. We earn it and spend it. The rich can live forever. And the rest of us? I just want to wake up with more time on my hand than hours in the day.

— Win Salas, from the movie “In time”

What do we do then? If we knew WHAT to do, we would have done it already…!

Sometimes, all we can do, is look at things differently.

Here are several options. Note the words I have put in Italics, they are very telling of each level, and we use them so so much!

This is where the Core Energy Leadership levels come in handy (reference at the bottom). And when I say Leadership — it can just apply to leading my own life. Levels are 1 through to 7, here I explore them up to Level 4.

Level 1: I don’t have time, I am feeling lost and overwhelmed. I cannot do this anymore but I have to. I am afraid that if I don’t, my life will crash. I am feeling passively sorry for myself. (original quote)

“I don’t have time. I don’t have time to worry about how it happened. It is what it is. Time is now the currency. We earn it and spend it. The rich can live forever. And the rest of us? I just want to wake up with more time on my hand than hours in the day.”

Level 2: I hate not having more time! I should change something but I JUST DON’T KNOW HOW! I am ready for action though.

“I don’t have time. I hate this! I don’t have time to worry about how it happened. It is what it is. Time is now the currency. We earn it and spend it. The rich can live forever. Idiots, I hate them too. And the rest of us? I just want to wake up with more time on my hand than hours in the day. I honestly had enough of this, it is the fault of the World, I am powerless here. I am wasting my life, this is so stressful!

Level 3: I still pretty much hate not having time, but it is fine. I have found my ways to cope with that. I get up earlier and am tired but it is manageable.

“I don’t have time, but at least I have a job and things to do. I can try to come up with a workaround. Life is not amazing but I am fine. I don’t have time to worry about how it happened. It is what it is. Time is now the currency. We earn it and spend it. The rich can live forever. And the rest of us? I just want to wake up with more time on my hand than hours in the day.”

Level 4: I am still unhappy that I don’t have time but others must feel the same!… I can try to at least help them, even though I am still struggling.

“I don’t have time. I don’t have time to worry about how it happened. It is what it is. Time is now the currency. We earn it and spend it. The rich can live forever. And the rest of us? Maybe I can find a way to help my friends. I just want to wake up with more time on my hand than hours in the day. Maybe they do, too. I wonder what I can do for them.

In conclusion? YOU GOT THIS! We cannot always choose reality, but we can learn how to choose our perspective on it. IT CAN BE TAUGHT AND LEARNED!!!
