Hubris. I am amazed how many times I read about a new discovery turning scientific theory on their heads or whatever phrase an editor uses to catch our attention. What gets my attention is when science is shocked, stunned, upended, or bewildered by a discovery. Why? Why do we always believe the current answer is the final answer? Genuine paranormal phenomena is likely normal naturally occurring phenomena yet to be discovered. I mean…probably, right?

Yes, the need for empirical, repeatable evidence cannot be replaced but our absolute assuredness regarding our understanding of nearly anything we observe over time has got to stop. It’s more than just dismissing certain fields as pseudoscience, scientists in general seem bewildered by discoveries that challenge our human perception of uniqueness. It is commonly accepted scientific fact humans are mammalian animals biologically related to Earth’s other primates and yet we have quotes like this:

A group of prominent biologists and philosophers announced a new consensus: There’s “a realistic possibility” that insects, octopuses, crustaceans, fish and other overlooked animals experience consciousness. — Quanta Magazine

That is wonderful news but it’s 2024. Aren’t we past the point of surprises requiring phrases like “realistic possibility” to support it? Shouldn’t the comment read more akin to while surprising it is not unexpected or considering some recent discoveries this sort of discovery is par for the course. My personal go to would be more matter of fact; Nature is amazing, isn’t it?

Nature is amazing by ChatGPT

Is it not arrogant to assume we have the final answers regarding anything we’ve observed? Science does avoid claims like absolute and tries to keep away from other words like certainty but scientists do have an arrogance about what is considered worthy of scientific study. How can there be so much confidence in the science community when the female body is still a mystery?

The natural universe is amazing and nothing should be considered unrealistic until absolutely proven to be so.

Ghosts. Based on my own research and experiences I’m generally inclined to ignore 99.9% of all ghost claims including but not limited to Victorian era attire, English speakers in foreign countries, and physical interactions. I don’t dismiss them entirely I just need more evidence. I won’t discount specters since bio-electricity is a real thing, humans resonate at approximately 9 to 16 Hz. While we have no empirical evidence I will not discount the possibility of some form of echo remaining. If scientists continue discussing the possibility of multiverses I contend we must therefore accept spectral (spectrum?) resonance as possible.

Scientists recently discovered a natural electrical network underground driven by a small microbe called Geobacter sulfurreducen. In my mind, this opens the door to the “realistic possibility” of a global consciousness. (insert laughter here)

Laugh it up fuzz ball. — Han Solo

Mycorrhizal networks (sometimes referred to as the “Wood Wide Web”) are complex systems formed underground, symbiotic relationships between fungi and plant roots using chemical signals to communicate. Nature is biochemistry, signals are waves, liquids, gases, all governed by fluid mechanics. It would not surprise me to learn one day science will unlock a universal conscious wavelength. Quantum entanglement is proof enough to me that science knows as much about everything as we know about our own history.

By the way, it is estimated we only have 1.6% of our history recorded. That is 98.4% of all human history is a basically a wild ass guess. Keep in mind, America is currently arguing over what our Founding Fathers meant and it has only been two-hundred fifty years since The Constitution. We have been modern humans for about three hundred thousand years, y’all.

We know nothing. The sooner we accept it the smoother future advancement will be.

Thank you for sharing your time with me. I cherish the time you spend reading the words I place in order to convey a point or story. I hope you got something out of it.

Don’t take my word for anything. Research is fun!
