Stories From a Junior
“Duchesne’s teaching is the kind where they throw you in the lava and you have to learn how to make a fireproof suit. I was a horrible student before Duchesne. I came from a little public elementary school. High school is the difficulty level I was expecting. Sophomore year was really bad; it was the busiest. Freshman year was sort of similar to fifth grade, where I felt like there wasn’t a lot of pressure, and things were ok. I have learned so much, and I think I’ll be super prepared when I get to college. Something I enjoy is analysis stuff because I like looking more in-depth in literature, which sounds super nerdy, but I do. In middle school, I loved language arts classes because I got to do some free writes and write some essays. I miss reading and analyzing the readings and doing spiderwebs. The ‘Physics of Harry Potter’ … I thought it would be more useful, as far as learning physics. We didn’t learn any physics! But we’ve had a lot of philosophical discussions about scientific discoveries.”
