White Privilege on the Dance Floor
Lots more than shaking going on in yonder salsa club.
It’s midnight on a Monday. We’re lined up on the stairs waiting to go on. We is a six-member Palo de Mayo dance troupe I’m in. On is the dance floor of Club Elegante in San Francisco’s Mission District featuring dance bands from El Salvador and Nicaragua.
