Every food fanatic has heard of the classic rainbow bagels flooding their Instagram feeds. But, how about the rainbow croissant? Let’s rewind a bit. I bet everyone remembers the ingenious creation of the cronut pastry, a croissant-donut hybrid created by Dominique Ansel. This scrumptious dessert is just another take on the dessert that took NYC by storm. Union Fare welcomes you with its warm atmosphere, bright raindrop like lights hanging from the ceilings, and of course, the beautifully buttery aroma from its bakery. When I visited last week, I went directly to find the food craze, also known as the birthday cake croissant. There definitely is something mesmerizing in those layers upon layers of colorful buttery deliciousness.

This little dessert joint located in Flushing, New York defines insta-worthy. When first stumbling upon the literal “hole-in-the-wall” place after seeing my Instagram feed was bombarded with rolled ice-cream, eggloos, and taiyakis, a fish shaped cone filled with ice cream, this place, which is famous for serving cotton candy topped ice cream cups, was refreshing. The unique aspect of this place was its intricate attention to detail. I was amazed upon receiving my “panda rui”, a whole cotton candy shaped body with little details for its shape and facial features that deserved a spot on my own Instagram feed. As you walk down Flushing Main Street, it is normal for one to be bombarded with scents and sights of all sorts. However, during a hot summer day, rather than settling for generic rolled up ice cream (I’m looking at you 10Below), let your imagination fly as you order from various options including a “Hello Kitty Rui” “Dreamy Balloon”, “Rainbow Thunder Cloud”, and “Pink Tutu”!

Bonjour Crepes and Wine

1585 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10028
Phone: 212) 535–3140
Hours: Sunday- Saturday 8am-12am

Looking for a place to relax after a long day at work? How about a place to hang out with your girlfriends? Bonjour Crepes and Wine combines your two favorite “guilty pleasures” to make this your go-to destination for a dessert and a drink. Crepes have been taking Instagram by storm with the invention of the “crepe cake”, layers upon layers of crepes, separated by cream and presented just like a traditional cake. But just as the world is obsessing over this modern take on the traditional cake, why not go for a beautiful simple crepe instead? There’s a reason why the classic has stayed the classic.
