Eatin’ Good in Indy

People often ask me for restaurant recommendations when they’re traveling. I figure, why not just share it with everyone while I’m at it!? With the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 coming up, people are planning their trip to Indy. And no trip is complete without a visit to St. Elmo Steakhouse.

Open for 111 years, St. Elmo has mastered being a great steakhouse. The steaks are generously sized and juicy, the sides are beyond yummy, and it’s always packed (Indy 500 or no Indy 500). But the true attraction, hands-down, is the fiery shrimp cocktail! (It’s even got its own trademark)!

St. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail with fiery cocktail sauce is world renowned and it is not for the faint of heart. Caution: it will literally take your breath away. . . and clear your mind and nasal passages. (Maybe it’s the cure for spring allergies)? It’s hot…horseradish hot. But it’s awesome and is known as a real crowd pleaser.

So if you’re up for a thrill/challenge and find yourself in Indianapolis for the Indianapolis 500 (or for whatever other reason for that matter), do be sure to take the cocktail sauce challenge and visit St. Elmo’s. And if you do go, please let me know what you thought! I welcome comments and feedback! (Comments below or tweet at me @TheHungryFan).
