As we speak, the first half of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals is playing out. The Pacers are taking on the Heat in Miami. Shaq’s got the Heat in 5. Charles has the Pacers in 6. It’s anybody’s guess how many games this will go. The one thing we do know is that it will go at least four. That said, the series makes its way to Indy this Sunday, May 26th. If you plan to head to Indianapolis for the game and stadium food’s not your thing (the game isn’t until 8:30pm anyway, thereby leaving you plenty of time to get a good dinner out), I recommend you check out St. Elmo’s Steakhouse in the Wholesale District!

A lot of people ask me where to eat or good spots I’ve eaten at while on the road attending sporting and other events. So consider this a Hungry Fan Pick!

Open for 111 years, St. Elmo’s has mastered being a great steakhouse. The steaks are generously sized and juicy, the sides are beyond yummy, and it’s always packed (NBA Playoffs or no NBA Playoffs). But the true attraction, hands-down, is the fiery shrimp cocktail! (It’s even got its own trademark)!

St. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail with fiery cocktail sauce is world renowned and it is not for the faint of heart. Caution: it will literally take your breath away. . . and clear your mind. It’s hot — horseradish hot. But it’s awesome and is known as a a real crowd pleaser. And it’s a Hungry Fan pick to boot!

So if you find yourself in Indianapolis this Sunday and you’re a shrimp cocktail fan like I am (and think you can handle some hot cocktail sauce), I recommend din din at St. Elmo’s! And if you do go, please let me know what you thought! I welcome comments and feedback!
