Grand Marnier Vanilla Shake 2

Grand Marnier Shake

Living next to Black Tap here in NYC and seeing lines and lines of people standing in the freezing cold (waiting for hours to get some…wait for it… also freezing cold milkshakes), got Addie and I thinking! Apparently there is a milkshake fad happening.

So we’re kicking off a month of madness of our own to celebrate March Madness! And we’re doing it with a shake of our own!

This lovely looking shake (themed orange…like basketballs..get it?) is such a cinch to whip up. It actually looks more complicated and fancy than it is (and it looks damn good). And we happen to think that the only thing better than watching March Madness is watching it while sipping on one of these puppies! Whip one up for yourself, for your friends, or for your honey, grab a seat on the couch and enjoy the sweetness that is a month of single elimination basketball accentuated by a sweet, sweet milkshake!

Happy March Madness, everyone!

Recipe by Addie of Addie’s Confetti Kitchen

1 cup vanilla bean ice cream
1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
1 tbs sugar
1 tbs orange blossom honey
1 tbs Grand Marnier
1 orange, segmented
1 oz triple sec

Directions

Make Grand Marnier syrup by combining orange juice, Grand Marnier, sugar, and honey in pot. Let simmer to combine and add orange segments once the syrup forms.

Scoop ice cream into glass and add the Grand Marnier syrup and Triple Sec on top. Allow the ice cream to melt and enjoy!

Adia Benson, known as Addie, was born and raised in Minnesota, where she spent cold winters playing hockey on her frozen over backyard and summers on her brother’s soccer team (the girl is competitive!). Although her career took her to a kitchen, she has remained a sports fan and finds any opportunity to host friends and family around a game. She has worked for the likes of Thomas Keller, Martha Stewart and in culinary innovation for two years at gravitytank in Chicago. She currently lives in Lake Forest, IL with her fiancé, Alex, and puppy, Paisley, and works at Prime Publishing overseeing the production of culinary content for web platforms and testing recipes that will be published in cookbooks beginning in 2017. Addie also runs Addie’s Confetti Kitchen, where, for the next month, she’s helping us make March Madness eats effortless, appetizing, and a whole lot of fun for everyone!
