Submission guidelines

Hurdio is seeking both seasoned and novice writers who are enthusiastic about penning reviews, columns, interviews, and articles with a music theme in order to become a part of our community and contribute their knowledge, skills, and anecdotes.

We are a group of inquisitive authors and readers. You can contribute to our blog, which is becoming into a one-stop shop for anything music-related, if you appreciate producing music-related articles, album and concert reviews, audio technology reviews, music production advice, audio engineering pieces, genre dissections, and so forth.

We think that writing is an extremely creative craft. However, producing music-focused pieces calls for a variety of writing and musical capabilities. Hurdio aims to provide you with writing platform and a dynamic writing community to support your growth.

We’re looking for the following articles and stories:

  • Music reviews—albums, EPs, singles—on popular genres (limited to 450–500 words).
  • Review of musical performances at festivals and concerts (no more than 500–650 words).
  • Deep and insightful columns and articles in specific music genres, subcultures, music trends, or areas of expertise (e.g., music production, music history, audio technology, music publishing)—limited to 900–1200 words
  • Artiste interviews.
  • “Equipment Corner"—review music production tools, audio tech gear, software, and/or instruments for aspiring and pro musicians.
  • In-depth artists' profiles.

Editorial Submission Guidelines

Below are the rules and guidelines for submission. Be assured that these will keep changing as we grow and evolve. As the saying goes, “Change is constant.”

  • Follow the publication and editor(s).
  • Catchy headlines that accurately reflect the content of the post are ideal. We do not want any of our readers to become lost right away.
  • Make sure the writing you do is kind, educational, and captivating.
  • We desire unique stuff. We are constantly looking for unique material that will engage and inspire readers.
  • Give due credit to the featured image and make sure it is a high-quality image that fits with your content.
  • Send in articles with proper grammar and spelling. However, we dislike complex grammar. Grammarly is available for usage.
  • Please do not submit AI essays to us. Your soul and personal experience are what we want. Have no doubt, if we were serious about AI writing, we would not require this platform.
  • Send in drafts that have not been published that are no less than three minutes.
  • Your title should be in title case, and the subtitle should be in sentence case with no punctuation at the end.
  • Respect Medium’s guidelines.
  • Write in an objective, casual, and educational manner.
  • Please provide your references provided there are any.
  • Employ paragraphs.
