As a Coach, much of your job is centered around helping your clients determine what their goals are, and then, how to go about achieving them. But, as many coaches (and clients) can attest to, it is often challenging to create well-structured, actually achievable goals that can be tracked over time.

When we started building huupe, we decided to focus on creating a goal management tool that would enable Coaches and clients to easily create structured goals and to track progress. This article describes how you can work with your clients using huupe’s goal functionality so that you are up to speed on progress in between sessions and can be that much more impactful in your coaching. If you’re interested in learning more about overall goal structure and how to create goals with huupe check out this brief article.

Goal Sharing Once you have been hired by a client and discussed the high level goal they are looking to achieve, we recommend using huupe’s goal management tool to break it down into milestones and subgoals. Clients can share their goals with you. To do this, they will open their goal, and select your name from the dropdown titled: “Share with your connection” as shown below:

Once the goal has been shared, you will then be able to view the goal within the My huupe page under the shared goals tab.

Who owns the goal? At the moment, goals are only editable by the goal creator. This means adding, editing and removing milestones and subgoals can’t be done by the user who the goal is shared with. So for now, we recommend having your client create their goals so that they are in complete control of them as opposed to you doing it for them.

Tracking progress In order to track progress on goals, it’s important to have your client set dates on the overall goal, the milestones and the subgoals. These dates will enable huupe to start providing reminder and progress update emails to you and your client on a weekly basis as well as to display calendar events in your personal calendars based on the due dates that have been set.

Calendar integrations In order to ensure that goal accomplishment is top of mind, we recommend integrating huupe’s calendar feed into both your client’s and your calendars. By integrating huupe’s calendar feed, each goal and subgoal will be displayed on your calendar on the date that it is due. Here is a brief article explaining how.

Checking in A lot happens in between your coaching sessions with your clients. The goal management tool huupe provides is a way to stay connected with your client and quickly check in on where things are at. If you notice a subgoal not checked off, it is then very simple to send a quick message to your client asking how things are going, which means you are informed about their situation before your next session, allowing you to be more prepared and provide better coaching!
