Our Secret Sauce
As we’ve told you in our article about Company Culture previously, Team Huuuge follows 9 Principles which define who we are and what we do. Principle #9 is simple — Have Fun, and since we love fun, we’ve decided to make a little twist to the format and start from the end.
We believe fun is at the core of what makes us special… fun starts from the basics. A lot of our employees are fun-loving, open people, who really help us build our team. This has been the case for us ever since day one, and despite our insane growth, one of our main goals is to keep having fun, whether there’s 40 or 400 of us.

This is why we try to engage our team in creative contests and fun events, ranging from simple “meme contests”, through sports or video game tournaments, all the way internal Game Jams and character design challenges — which don’t only develop the team’s skills, creativity and cohesion, but often end up helping inspire the product.
We also have team-building events every month, they can be anything — from something as simple as an office grill, to epic cruises on our local rivers. These don’t just serve as a way to relax, but also to help Team Huuuge meet people who may be working in different teams, or even on different floors. The culmination of this philosophy is our yearly Summer Party.

The Summer Party is a day on which we kick back and relax. Instead of going to work, we go to a hotel and spend the entire day having fun with each other. This year, we’ve had the greatest Summer Party yet! With around 300 people attending, we had to make sure everyone would find something that would tickle their fancy, and boy, did it ever! It’s safe to say that it was impossible to try everything out during the day… but it was also impossible to be bored! Daredevils got to bungee jump, those with a competitive streak had a table tennis tournament organized for them, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. You saw the video, right?
Why are we telling you all this, though? Are we just bragging? Of course not! The fun we’re having is more than just “fun”, it’s an opportunity to build a happy team, and a happy team is a good team. After all, “Play Together” is our slogan for a reason.

We are privileged to know that a lot of our Team are friends outside of work, and that they don’t really need any events to enjoy each others’ company. This, among other things, helps us keep our team intact. Turnover is a huge (but not Huuuge’s!) problem in the industry, and we know that for a lot of people, the right kind of atmosphere is a trump card of sorts when choosing between jobs.

This also helps us in our recruitment efforts — we have a very popular recommendation system in place at the company, and a lot of that popularity stems from the fact that Team Huuuge really wants their friends to join them on our mission to mars. In fact, over 40% of our hires in 2017 and 2018 have come from recommendations, which makes us really happy!
What does this all mean? It means that the fun we’re having isn’t just for the sake of it. It gives us a real edge over our competition, helping us find and retain amazing people. It also helps us create better products! The theme for our brand new Slot called Blaster Cats vs Aliens (coming next week!) actually started off as a running inside joke in one of our teams (“So, when are we making the game about cats in space?”) and was later picked up as an actual theme for a game that we’re sure our players will love. Our team is made up of loads of creative people, and fun is the key to unleashing that creativity.
Whether through events, massive parties or little interactions in the office, fun is at the core of what we do. We don’t plan on stopping any time soon, so if you want in on the fun, check out our openings!
