3 Extras Every Corporate Housing Apartment Should Have

There seems to be a tendency among furnished apartment providers to create one apartment and then stick various descriptors on it — corporate, nursing, vacation — depending on who they happen to be targeting at a given moment.

The truth is, corporate guests have unique needs, and if you are hoping to attract corporate travelers to your furnished apartments — it really helps to have these extras that our corporate partners really can’t live without.

1) Blazing Fast Wi-Fi

This one is obvious but I’m including it and placing it first because it’s so important and somehow still gets overlooked.

Chances are, whenever your guest is trying to get work done, they will be getting that work done online. For a business traveler, this often means they are online with multiple devices.

At Hyatus, it is not uncommon for a business traveler to have a smart watch, a personal and business phone, a personal and business laptop, and an iPad. This is on top of whatever smart devices you, as the host, provide. In our apartments, this adds 2 additional 4K TVs and a smart thermostat to the network.

To handle multiple devices streaming large amounts of data simultaneously, we recommend internet speeds of at least 300 Mbps. Just to be safe, we often go with 600 Mbps.

2) In-Suite Workstation

I wouldn't say this is necessarily required but it’s certainly a very appreciated perk. Business travelers are often looking to work late and having a solid work-from-home setup where they can comfortably complete whatever couldn’t be done at the office is very important to many busy travelers.

If you can’t find a space that can fit a fully-equipped workstation, provide building spaces for getting work done. Our New Haven apartments are leased from a luxury building equipped with the perfect building conference and meeting rooms and so, for those units, we mostly went without in-suite workstations.

3) Fitness Area

Business trips can get intense and stressful and for many, the best way to relax and unwind is with a nice run or workout.

To accommodate a business traveler's schedule, aim to set up corporate housing in buildings with fitness areas that offer 24hr access. This way, no matter how early or late, your guests will be able to fit their workout into their busy travel schedule.

If an in-building fitness area is impossible, simply supply a yoga mat, jump-rope and maybe an exercise ball to help your guests get a simple workout in without having to arrange a membership to a gym in a city they, perhaps, are only visiting for a short time. (If you do provide some workout equipment, keep in mind they need to be added to your cleaning team’s sanitization list.)

Conclusion

Of course these three perks are not the only things business travelers are looking for in a furnished apartment. However, covering these essentials is definitely an important start and will help you stand out from most typical furnished apartments, especially when appealing to corporate travelers.
