All right, all right, all right.

Let’s do a quick Hybrid Cloud round up:

Figure out why you want to do it. Start small. Build it. Measure. Celebrate your success. And then on to the next round and repeat.

So where are we now a little over two years into our journey?

· We have nearly 1700 applications migrated to our enterprise OpenShift deployment across public and private clouds with over 20,000 project components collectively deploying once every six minutes.

· Over 50% of our application portfolio is on our enterprise hybrid cloud platform.

· And nearly 20% of our applications in a state of “hybrid cloud advantaged”: fully modern micro-services-based applications running on our enterprise OpenShift platform and fully instrumented with the four golden signals.

With this much progress and more to come, how to we maintain focus, and provide even more platform capabilities to help the digital business accelerate? These are the elements that we’re going to walk you through our next round of hybrid cloud survival guide:

· Moving from speed to velocity. Velocity is even more important than speed. Moving quickly in a direction that’s going to deliver concrete value to fundamental business operations every day.

· Using our hybrid cloud platform as a catalyst to implement digitally advantageous common standards and patterns that natively enhance security with less effort.

· Taking legacy architectures and adapting the underlying platforms they run on to be first class citizens within the hybrid cloud. Yes, we’re talking about our mainframes and our mainframe application here. Transforming how we operate, deploy, and build new digital capabilities.

· Approaching operational data as a core competency. Moving from saying that we’re going to use data to harnessing data from the platforms and applications is much easier said than done, but essential.

· Increasing adoption time over (or after) time. When you move from infrastructure into hybrid cloud platforms that span the gamut of our technology architectures we start singing a new song. The platform approach becomes the catalyst for change throughout the organization driving not only value, but the future of IT itself.

· Acquiring skills. As all of us in the technology industry understand there’s a dearth of new technology skills in the marketplace amidst a backdrop of wage inflation and hyper competitiveness for the best talent. Doing things differently requires not only new skills but new ways of thinking that only come from within your own organization.

We’re super excited to share with you what we’ve learned over the past several months since we last checked in. First up (coming in the next week or 2) — Building a cross-functional roadmap & identifying dependencies. We’ll walk you through how we did it and why it’s important, and will continue to share new stories weekly to help describe our path in order to help you on your own hybrid cloud and digital transformation journey.
