Announcing the Hydra Testnet Bounty Campaign
We are pleased to announce that the Hydra Testnet Bounty goes live today!
As part of this bounty, we are aiming for 100+ community-owned nodes that will allow us to gather network data under real-world conditions. Whether you join with your windows device, or a custom Raspberry Pi setup — the more variety we have, the better tested the network becomes.
This follows the same philosophy as our previous releases and testnet bounties, which ultimately led to the release of Hydra mainnet!
Some of the more notable features of the current testnet are:
✅ Block time reduction from current 128 seconds, to 32 seconds
✅ Integration of the Delegated Staking feature
✅ Integration of Superstaking capabilities
✅ EVM version now includes Istanbul release
✅ Upgrade to Bitcoin Core v0.20.1 (latest improvements inherited from the Bitcoin wallet)

Main Task:
Download the testnet wallet version 0.20.4 and prepare it as explained in this article:
Note: You will need a separate device/instance for the testnet, as it can not run together with the mainnet.
Participate in the staking process, via your own node (self-staking) throughout the duration of four weeks. The node size should be in the 5,000–15,000 HYDRA (test-coins) range to be eligible.
Participants can additionally play around with the delegation and superstaker features, however this should be done via separate addresses so that the tracking is not disturbed.
Participants have time until the 16th of August to restructure their existing HYDRA or request new ones from the faucet. Starting from the 17th, the node should be “final” and ideally not experience too many changes other than the ones related to the staking process itself.
Additional tasks with bonus rewards may be introduced, if required by our developer team.
Limit of 100 Participants
Although the testnet is open and accessible by anyone without permission, the actual bounty with its rewards is limited to 100 participants. A public sheet will be released, verifying which entries were accepted to the program.
The selection will depend on the following criteria:
- Time of form submission
- History of the testnet wallet address (those who were already staking for the past few weeks will be prioritized, so make sure to enroll with that specific wallet address)
Rules:
- Only one enrollment per user is allowed
- Only one enrollment per internet connection/IP address is allowed
- Multi-accounting can lead to the disqualification of all involved enrollments
- The staking activity needs to be maintained throughout the bounty period. If you experience downtimes (longer than 3 hours), please make sure to report them via the form below:
- Longer unreported downtimes may result in a reduced reward
