Hydro Update: 9/28/18
The Hydro team provides updates on Hydrogen’s blockchain and decentralization efforts, including the Hydro API and Hydro smart contracts.
Hey guys! It has been a while since I have written one of these updates, but don’t worry I have been coding away. Hope everyone is as excited for these last few months of the year as we are. We have a lot of exciting stuff coming in Q4 and can’t wait to share it with you all.
This last week we have been thinking a lot about what the more ID and verification portions of Snowflake will look like. We are building Snowflake to be as modular as possible, so if you don’t want to link any public information to it that is okay, but it is a very important part of Snowflakes value proposition. After talking about this extensively, we have decided that we intend to support as many blockchain identity protocols as possible.
To get started with this, I have started developing an ERC725 resolver to support their robust key and claim system. You can expect to see some GitHub commits to our smart contracts repository next week with some of the ERC725 code. Alongside this, we have also started working with Wyre to utilize their On-Chain compliance. To utilize this, I created a React library that allows for an easy Wyre plugin. We have a working POC in our Snowflake Dashboard, but be aware that is will only work for US Citizens. This implementation allows for an extremely simple plug and play for dApps and DEXs which wish to only allow KYC’d US Citizens.

has been updating his web3-webpacked-react module to work with some new changes to MetaMask and React. One of the big benefits of working at a startup like Hydrogen is that our tech stack is very flexible, and we don’t have a bloated or legacy codebase to maintain. This means that we’re able to be proactive in adopting the latest changes to software and other dev tools. This week, we ensured that our Snowflake Dashboard will be fully equipped to handle the breaking changes MetaMask will be making per EIP1102, and upgraded our React code to conform to the recently released Create React App v2. It’s exciting and mutually beneficial to be on the cutting edge of developments like these.
