“There’s no such thing as layer 0, in fact Layer 1 Blockchains are Layer 5 on the network topology stack” said Toufi Saliba, CEO of HyperCycle and author of Toda/IP. “So we are innovating here, there’s nothing like it, our goal is to enable AI to collaborate p2p at a modular level with zero third party dependencies”

HyperCycle is a new Layer 0++ blockchain architecture designed for high-speed and inexpensive on-chain execution of microservices, particularly (but not limited to) those related to AI. This article provides an overview of the HyperCycle design, which leverages the TODA/IP ledgerless blockchain, the TODA asset model, and SingularityNET’s Proof of Reputation system. Also discussed will be the potential applications of HyperCycle, such as swarm AI, rating and reward in media networks, decentralized payments and computer processing, and public/private chain interoperability.

For more information on the HyperCycle TGE and how to participate, check SingularityDAO’s blog “SingularityDAO Launchpad: HyperCycle Token Generation Event”. KYC is open until 25th April 12:00 UTC and can be done here.

Introduction

Since the release of the Bitcoin whitepaper in 2008, blockchain technology has rapidly evolved, with the creation of different blockchain networks and the introduction of new concepts such as smart contracts, DAOs, and Layer 2 networks. While some have envisioned ‘One Blockchain Network To Rule Them All’, the reality is that we are facing an ecosystem of decentralized networks, each architected with mechanisms specialized to suit specific use-cases. HyperCycle builds on this concept to create a new blockchain architecture.

The recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, represent just the beginning of the AI revolution. Decentralization is a crucial factor in the maturity of the sector, as centralized alternatives have significant limitations. Unfortunately, the lack of a Layer 0++ blockchain infrastructure optimized for the decentralized AI economy has proven to be an obstacle.

Fortunately, HyperCycle and SingularityNET offer unique solutions to capture the market share by creating cross-chain solutions that bridge the cryptosphere and AI. The current AI landscape is limited by the narrow collaboration of AI machines, which restricts their abilities to singular tasks. HyperCycle is a trailblazing Layer 0++ blockchain infrastructure that is engineered to revolutionize AI cooperation. By offering unmatched speed and security, HyperCycle breaks down the boundaries of AI cooperation, enabling AI agents to work together to achieve unparalleled feats.

As the thirst for AI computation continues to soar, HyperCycle presents a significant opportunity to catalyze the next generation of AI solutions. Through the power of cooperative AI, we can shape a future where AI works together in harmony to unlock limitless possibilities. With HyperCycle’s ability to redefine the boundaries of AI cooperation, we can overcome the challenges of today’s AI landscape and enable AI to reach its full potential.

What is Layer 0++?

The term “Layer 0++” has been coined to describe the distinctive nature of the HyperCycle blockchain network. This innovative network operates on a decentralized protocol level known as Toda/IP, which parallels the traditional TCP/IP-level architecture. By dividing network packets into tiny pieces and distributing them to other nodes, HyperCycle revolutionizes the foundation of internet protocol networking, earning the designation of Layer 0.

The “++” signifies the additional functionalities that HyperCycle encompasses. Not only does it serve as a standalone blockchain, comparable to Layer 1 with its own virtual machine (VM) and modular smart contract features, but it can also bridge to other blockchains. This also enables HyperCycle to extend the usability of blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, Algorand, Cosmos, Polkadot, Avalanche, Polygon etc. As opposed to compete with them.

In summary, the term “Layer 0++” was introduced to capture the unique and comprehensive design of HyperCycle, which spans multiple layers and stands as the most advanced decentralized network architecture to date.

HyperCycle Design

The HyperCycle design consists of a population of autonomous agents, each owning their own transaction history and accumulating their own reputation, grouped together in rings in which they collaborate to execute consensus mechanisms enabling execution of smart contracts. Consensus mechanisms involved in HyperCycle rings may be ledgerless or hierarchically sharded ledgers, depending on the specific requirements. HyperCycle agents are constructed as TODA files, complete with the TODA transaction and cycle trie mechanisms for secure decentralized management of file and network history.

Potential Applications

HyperCycle has the potential to revolutionize several application areas, including swarm AI, decentralized finance, rating and reward in media networks, decentralized payments and computer processing, and public/private chain interoperability.

Swarm AI refers to a collective intelligence system where individual AI agents work together to solve complex problems. With HyperCycle, AI agents can interoperate more frequently, resulting in lighter-weight AI agents carrying out complex AI processes internally.

The ability to execute high-frequency trading, on chain, at incredibly high speed with equally low cost presents endless opportunities to DeFi applications.

Rating and reward in media networks can also be improved with HyperCycle, as it enables inexpensive and scalable microtransactions.

Decentralized payments and computer processing can also be streamlined with HyperCycle, as it reduces the cost and increases the speed of blockchain transactions.

Finally, public/private chain interoperability can be facilitated with HyperCycle, allowing for seamless communication between different blockchain networks, allowing HyperCycle to not only operate as a Layer 0 solution, but also Layer 0 and side-chain to any other blockchain.

Token Utility

As a participant in the HyperCycle network, users can:

  • Monetize their computing power
  • Collaborate in AI computations that empower other AI systems (synergistic and cooperative AI)
  • Integrate their own AI into the AGI network for enhanced performance

HYPC is the native currency, used to access the network and to be able to run agents that power AI applications. Please find a utility breakdown in the image below:

Node Economics & Rewards

The HyperCycle Node Network Contribution Score is calculated as follows:

(Uptime x Reputation x Computation) = Network Contribution Score

Where, Uptime, Reputation and Computation can not be higher than 1.26, and the Network Contribution Score can be no more than 2.0003, e.g. 1.26 x 1.26 x 1.26 = 2.0003

By securing 1024 HYPC tokens, users can operate a parent node within the HyperCycle ecosystem. This parent node can then support numerous child nodes if Network Contribution Scores requirements for this are met, with the result being that the user can collect rewards from all of these parent and child nodes.

By improving the Network Contribution Score, users can unlock the ability to run more nodes using the same bundle — with the potential to manage up to 1024 nodes. Remember, keeping your parent nodes online is crucial for maintaining your child nodes.
