The holidays are right around the corner. Unless the deal gods are on your side, you will likely be fielding calls, emails, and trying to push out work product in less-than-ideal conditions.

Don’t fret! Our team at HyperDraft has discovered some tech tools over the years that make fielding emergency requests a bit easier when you are in the middle of a road-trip or staying in grandma’s guest room.

Here are 5 tech tools that can help you juggle work during the holiday season:

  1. Duet Display

Once a corporate attorney is familiar with the convenience of working with two monitors, it’s hard to go back to working off a laptop screen or a single monitor. Many of our team members are so addicted to the dual screen life that it’s common practice for them to ship a dock and their dual monitor station home with them for the holidays so they can recreate their office when they are traveling. However, even if you are so lucky to think ahead and commit to lugging around your home office, there are still some travel situations where you are not able to have your full set-up (i.e., cars, trains, planes, etc.).

In these cases, many members of our team have found that the ability to turn their tablet into a second screen has been a game changer. Duet Display is an application that lets you do just that. You download the application on your computer and your tablet. Then when you connect them, you can have a second screen to aid you in working when you are on the move. Instead of panicking the entire car or plane ride, Duet Display helps you create a functional, on-the-move office anywhere that you go.

2. HyperDraft

At HyperDraft, we believe that attorneys and other professionals should spend their time doing what they want. That’s why we built our custom document generators and editing tools so that our users don’t have to cancel plans or overextend themselves because of a last-minute client request.

For many, the holidays are the couple of times a year that they spend in-person time with their family. You shouldn’t have to pull all-nighters catching up on work or miss out on quality family time when you don’t have to. HyperDraft can help save 90% of the time typically spent on drafting transaction documents. It also makes editing more convenient than ever. Finish your work faster so you can be present with your family and friends over the holidays.

3. LastPass

If you are like us, you hate having to remember all your passwords. When you try to balance work with family distractions and travel, remembering the little things seems even more annoying. Do yourself a favor for the holidays (and beyond) and use LastPass to save all your passwords in one place. All you need to remember is your LastPass password and then LastPass can help you log into everything else securely.

4. Tiny Scanner

A scanner is never something we thought about needing when packing for the holidays in years past. However, there have been a few instances throughout the years where we’ve been scrambling for a scanner at the last minute and needed a quick and easy option. Our team is a big fan of the easy-to-use Tiny Scanner App.

Whether you need to send yourself or someone else hand-marked comments or some notes, it is useful to have a scanner in your pocket. This handy little app uses your smartphone’s camera as a scanner, turning your paper documents into either pictures or PDFs, which you can then email or save to your Dropbox or other file saving system.

5. Docusign or HelloSign

We hope that most corporate attorneys are using DocuSign, HelloSign, or another electronic signature software, but our team has encountered enough attorneys that don’t feel the need to extoll the magic and convenience of e-signatures. Yes, there are some practice areas where original signature pages are still necessary. For associates in those practice areas, we hope that there is a FedEx or UPS near the location where you are spending the holidays just in case disaster strikes.

Electronic signature can save attorneys and their clients some unnecessary emailing and coordination. Electronic signature software makes sending and tracking signature pages easier and faster than ever. In our experience, clients typically sign pages faster when asked for e-signature due to the convenience. Signature pages always seem to be a pain on deals. Do yourself a favor and make the process a bit easier with electronic signature software if you aren’t doing so already.
