Hyperion Titan Map Updated Coronavirus POI Crowd-contribution Function
Early detection is essential to the control of emerging, reemerging, and novel infectious diseases. Preventing the spread of such diseases in a profoundly interconnected world requires active vigilance for any signs of an outbreak, rapid recognition of its presence, isolation of pending cases, and avoidance of any risky contacts, in addition to strategies and resources for an appropriate and efficient response.
To have a quicker and more precise recognition of confirmed cases, Hyperion has updated POI contribution function in Titan real-time 2019-nCoV map, to allow global users to upload the details of nearby confirmed Coronavirus cases on Titan map. The real-time tracking map with crowd contribution function will help prevent the further outbreak of infectious disease with higher speed and lower cost.
Why is POI data contribution essential?
According to WHO, surveillance, defined as “the continual scrutiny of all aspects of occurrence and spread of a disease that are pertinent to effective control, involves the “systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of health data”. The complex process of disease detection requires loads of time to obtain the dispersive case details, especially when the virus carrier is moving around. Therefore, in addition to the official surveillance and broadcast, crowd-source and reporting is vital to the control and identifying of confirmed cases.
How to demonstrate POIs on Titan
Users will see two colors of POIs — yellow and red on Titan map, which clearly differentiate the two sources of virus data. Red POI data is collected from the National and provincial Health Committee, as well as the official news platforms, while the yellow POI information is uploaded by global users. The language settings include English, Chinese and Korean.
The key to virus data contribution lie in the details of confirmed cases, including the symptoms, hometown, recent contacts, business trips, etc. Users are suggested to enter as many details as possible and double confirm the information before uploading to the network. When users enter the details of case information, please be aware of the privacy protection agreement, such as do not reveal the identifiable personal information on the POI page.
