INT.QUASAR’S ROOM.MORNING

QUASAR sits at his

window-facing DESK.

The FLOOR is in shambles —

an overflowing bag of OLD CLOTHING.

STUDY ABROAD GUIDES in a pile.

TWO BOOKBAGS flank the DESK —

Coffee stains and old receipts abound.

LAPTOP open, he leans in, like a surfer intent on catching something.

QUASAR scrolls quickly —

pauses.

Quickly —

then pauses.

Onscreen, a man at the —

EIFFEL TOWER. Friends? Yes. Mutual? 50.

Next a WOMAN in a suit standing next to the CHARGING BULL.

Friends? Yes. Mutual? 70.

Scrolls.

Another WOMAN

LA MOVIE SET. Friends? Yes. Mutual? 100.

SUN shines brighter through the blinds.

QUASAR sees

HIMSELF — reflecting in the dark void of the laptop.

SHAGGY BEARD, worn white T-SHIRT.

He clicks on his

FACEBOOK MEMORIES PAGE.

Photos of JAPAN, OLD FRIENDS.

QUASAR opens his JOURNAL, writes

“WHY AM I NOT WHERE I WANT TO BE?”

(beat)

“WHY AM I SO OBSESSED WITH THE DESTINATION?”

(beat)

“WHY CAN’T I FOCUS ON NOW?”

He looks at a

FORTUNE COOKIE SLIP, taped down on the desk.

FAITH IS KNOWING THERE IS AN OCEAN WHEN YOU CAN ONLY SEE THE STREAM

QUASAR shuts the LAPTOP.

PEN in hand, he STABS the paper.

QUASAR (V.O.)

The three and a half month hiatus is over. I have returned with a mind full of ideas, and the confidence to share them. As you can tell, things look a little different now. I’m no longer on wordpress. But I will keep the site up as an archive of my time in Japan. You can check it out here. I’ve also added a new Top Posts section (coming very soon).

(beat)

Why the switch? Well the format — although not entirely fitting for screenwriting — allows me to focus entirely on just writing. I spent all this time thinking of ways to redesign my site, coding, etc., when there’s a site that already has what I’m looking for. So all future tales (now called “scenes”) will be posted here.

(beat)

Our lives are the stuffs of great epic films. Blockbusters, and heartbreakers, suspenseful moments of realness. When taking in the scene, see it as if you were seeing it on the big screen. Imagine yourself there. If there’s music in the background, click the link and play the music along with the reading. Any links to outside material add to the scene. So click’em! This is an interactive and personal experiment, and also a huge step into the unknown for me. Please join me with an open mind.

(beat)

I’m excited to share with you on a new platform! Or a new Medium, if you will. Stay Tuned for the next act.

QUASAR closes the JOURNAL, looks out the WINDOW. His reflection,

a SPACESUIT.
