An Unstable Cultural Amalgam

The fundamental elements cultures are made up of range from healthy and life-affirming to actually hostile to a life well-lived. In America, the Christian element of the amalgam is now trying to shake off the gregarious, worldly, civic-minded legacy of Ancient Greece and Rome. Should it succeed, we will be witnessing the birth of a monster - one characterized by distilled hostility to life itself. The name for this attempt to smother everything good in American civilization is Christian Nationalism.

What do I mean when I label this cultural element anti-life, stunted, etc? I mean that Christianity is characterized by saying no to many of the things that make life worth living, leaving adherents stunted socially, mentally and sexually. To deny oneself and those one is able to influence, such as family members, the expression of their most fundamental drives, is, to be sure, to stunt them.

So where does the nationalism of Christian Nationalism come into play? Attaching these words transfigures the meaning of Christianity mainly in terms of scale. A portion of the followers of Jesus have become not only a threat to the joy of themselves, family members and those they witness to, they have become also a threat to the happiness of every American. No longer satisfied abandoning their own joy and cruelly stunting their own children, the Christian Nationalist seeks to entrap the entire population of America, to stunt all the children.
