So you’re starting out as a Hypnotherapist and need help setting up an online presence? What’s more, how do you do this on a shoestring budget without hiring expensive freelancers?

You’ll need a few things:

  • a brand
  • a website
  • a way to share your hypnotherapy tracks

Brand

There are some easy ways to get a watertight and consistent brand.

I would highly recommend using Canva. It’s free and easy to use graphic design software. I’ve used it for most of the branding on this blog and our website (see here).

I would suggest working on a logo first, and the colours and fonts that come from this will influence the rest of your brand. To create a logo:

  1. Go to Canva (you’ll need to sign up to a free account)
  2. Once signed in, “create a design” and select “logo”
  3. This gives you a big list of pre-designed templates. Find one that looks in line with what you wanted and can easily tweak the colours and fonts.

Once you have the logo and fonts, make a note of both. The font should have a name. The colour will have a code which looks something like #00C4CC, make a note of this.

Any other resources you create, such as a website or marketing materials, try to use the same two to three colours that are in your logo and keep the fonts consistent.

Website

This is a must for any business starting out. You need to have an online presence if you want to be found by potential clients. We will be doing a future article looking at how to market your business, but for now, this article is just focusing on the how of actually creating a website.

To create a website, I suggest using one of the website builders that are now available. They have got much, much better in the last couple of years and now offer quite powerful features and slick design.

I would suggest using Wix. They have a load of free templates, as well as some premium ones if you want to pay. They also have a really easy to use visual editor so you can tweak your design as you wish.

They also have the ability to get a free domain (on their plan that is £6+/month) — and more importantly, it is all easy to set up.

Creating the following pages will set you up well:

  • About you (this really helps to humanise your service)
  • What to expect from Hypnotherapy (this can be used to dispel any myths or concerns)
  • What Hypnotherapy can be used for/ helps with (try to include as much scientific research as possible here — Google is your friend for this)
  • A contact page where people can get in touch with you for more info or to book a session
  • To keep it transparent, I would include a costs page, but this is a decision unique to your business as you may want them to contact you first before you reveal prices.

A way to share your hypnotherapy tracks

This is all part of the service you offer, and this is an often overlooked element of your service that many Hypnotherapists forget to give attention to.

If you provide an easy, professional and slick experience at this stage, it can really make you stand out from the other Hypnotherapists in your area.

We recognised this as an issue and built our own platform, that you can try for free at Hypnostream. You’ll be able to delight your clients, professionalise your business and retain control over your tracks.
