Through your generous contributions, Nisheeta has been able to acquire the appropriate equipment to train for the upcoming competing championships

‘God helps those who help themselves’ goes the popular saying and Nisheeta’s family swore by the same. Their daughter, a talented Taekwondo player, aspires to represent India at the Youth Olympic Games 2018, being held from Oct 6–18, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and also hopes to do the same at the Tokyo Olympics, 2020.

But for her training, she required high-end equipment that could shape Nisheeta’s skills. Her family couldn’t afford it. Nisheeta’s father Suneet Kotwal started an Impact Guru fundraiser and raised Rs.2,66, 404 through 41 donors.

Before being able to represent India at YOG, Nisheeta needed to participate in several championships, out which was the 6th UAE Fujairah Open, 2018 from February 16–18.

Because of the funds raised, Nisheeta was able to acquire the needed equipment to train for the championships, and managed to get selected for the Fujairah Open!

The making of a Taekwondo star

Nisheeta’s family has been consistently updating the donors about the rising Taekwondo’s player’s journey. The talented sports person successfully got selected for the Fujairah Open and even managed to click a selfie with her idol! See the picture below:

Well if that made you happy, there’s more. Nisheeta also secured the first position in the competition! Check out the picture below, in which the beaming Taekwondo player strikes a solid pose:

Currently, Nisheeta is training in full swing for the Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Open, 2018 being held from March 1 to 4. Check out the player in action who is sweating it out and training twice a day!

The struggle before the win

The journey certainly hasn’t been an easy one for Nisheeta and her family. Apart from the funds raised on Impact Guru, the rest was granted to them by Rutuja’s (her friend and training buddy) family. With the money collected, Nisheeta’s family was able to a training ring for her to practice on.

But lack of funds set her back a bit. While she trained for the Malaysia Open, Kuala Lumpur, she had to miss out on the Egypt Open. She even had to train for the Fujairah championship without proper equipment.

But, with the crowdfunded amount, she is training for Kuala Lumpur with full force! Thank you for coming together to help her win!

We wish her all the best!
