Author’s note: This is the first of eleven parts. Begun on the first of March — that time of innocence — as a blog about my Lenten fast from Medium, it soon became a blog about…you guessed it. I thought it would be more interesting to run the tape backwards, so not only am I starting with #11, but I am rearranging each one so that the most recent dated entry comes last.

We busied ourselves with preparations as yesterday with cleaning.

Does a virtual Seder bring comfort or remind us of what we cannot have? Not easy for me to tease out. On screen with us: my daughter and her girlfriend, my sister-in-law, and three friends. A friend of a friend joined us for part of the time. By Seder standards, a very small sitting. Traditionally, the Seder ends with “Next year in Jerusalem!” This year we should substitute, “Next year in person!”

Passover prep pretty much all day. Vacuuming, major cleaning in the kitchen, putting away containers, sponges, brushes, and the like and replacing them with stuff either new or reserved especially for passover. My wife got the takers she was expecting for our virtual first and second Seders…
