March 14th is Pi Day. Because it is 3.14, which are the first three digits of Pi. Since the diameter of a circle is pi*r squared and pie are round so that equation applies to most pies, the very date is an invitation to bake. Or to write about something baked.

I love pie. Unfortunately, hubby is allergic to wheat. Gluten free pie shells are a bit harder to make, so my resident baker doesn’t bake me pie. I only get to eat it on those rare occasions when we eat out at somewhere that makes a crust I know I can eat.

But I can always do a partial binge of pie by looking at all the pie pictures on Pi Day. I have good friends who bake and post them just about every year.

Thanksgiving of 2016, I even wrote a piece about pie… or rather the need for it. It starts with one of my older sister’s favorite phrases:

There will be laughing and conversation and pie. There must always be pie. — Betsy Schulz Urbik

For this challenge, we want to hear about your pies. Your favorite one. Your worst failure. The one you or someone else put in someone else’s face. Show us with your words or with your images. Send us your essays, your poems, your images. Share your thoughts on pie (or pi) with us. The prompt for Thursday, March 12th 2020 is “pie”.

Please be sure to give your piece the tag “pie”. The other four tags can be anything you wish. If you are looking for our submission guidelines, you can find them here:
