Separation
A poem
We live in urban separation
reminded of nature in subtle fashions —
the curling flower on a fence,
ducks gliding on man-made lakes,
tree shadows on concrete —
bits and pieces of what was all
but now just a slice, sandwiched
between buildings and parking lots
and too-close houses,
jammed and crammed in unlikely places,
reminding us that the city
still has rainbows.
