Its a better operating system running on better hardware with better available software. Startups are free from the institutional lock-in that has allowed Windows to continue to exist. The Windows customer is almost never the Windows end user, because so many of the machines are purchased by IT directors (I’m counting dads in this).

A better question would be: why do so many people, when given a choice, continue to purchase objectively inferior commodity hardware barely capable of performantly running a confusing operating system crammed with viruses, malware, and worse, shovel-ware?
