Alan Turing’s pardon is wrong
First, I am a great turing fan, hell I’m even a computer programmer, but his recent pardon by the queen is wrong. Our actions will be without fault the day we stop being humans, and our constant evolution makes us reevaluate our own legal system that reigns our collective behavior.
We as a society, have condemned people for actions that were judged as wrongful, and we surely are doing them now but not condemning them with future standards because it’s impossible to know what the law will say. By washing the what used to be law’s sentence, we ignore the process of becoming humane and better people.
Remember that we, as a collection of people that has to be better than the individual, have more to learn about Turing’s death than Turing himself, and it is by those actions and judgements that we must better ourselves, and not by changing history. Let it be in the past so we may focus on what is important: setting our future’s history straight so that hopefully, this does not happen again.
