Do You Need the Hello Kitty?

McDonald’s Singapore recently launched a Hello Kitty Fairy Tales Collectibles campaign. Each week, a unique design Hello Kitty can be purchased via McDelivery with each extra value meal order from 30 May till 3 July.

A couple of days into the promotion, McDonald’s Facebook page received backlash from customers around Singapore. Angry comments were posted on the Facebook page.

Customers were raging about not getting their Hello Kitty collectibles and that food delivery was disrupted. Some customers even tried to sell away the Hello Kitty collectibles at a higher price.

This is not the first time McDonald’s has gotten customers angry. Back in 2000, the Hello Kitty promotion saw long queues, broken glasses and customers getting injured with fist fights.

Do you really need to buy the Hello Kitty or will you throw it away while spring cleaning for the Chinese New Year in 2014?
