Email Overload at Work: Paid to be Inefficient

Or, better said that workers are not compensated to be efficient, the U.S. economy alone loses over $1 trillion a year in information related inefficiencies and email is a large chunk of that problem.

Most businesses and places of work haven’t even recognized the extent of the problem considering it just a part of doing business extending that mentality to their employees who spend hours a week ‘checking’ email thinking they are being productive when in fact they could be operating at 50% because of the constant interruptions.

If businesses were to identify the problem, that would lead to lower costs, higher profits and better salaries for those more productive workers, so if you feel that email overload is a problem at your work place, find a solution!

The unfortunate state is that most employees are not compensated to be efficient thus accepting the situation they are in, a failure in management being the reason and till that’s addressed email overload will continue at work place and set to get worse.
