Linguists are not really letting you on when they mention that pronouns are an integral component of a language. Substitution for a noun is necessary to create a complex linguistics infrastructure to accommodate the varies moods and expressions. Without the ability to “exaggerate”, which is usually the domain of adjectives, a language would lack the power of persuasion.

There are gender specific and gender neutral pronouns. There are personal pronouns. On a more intricate level, there are others such as reflexive, reciprocal, disjunctive, etc. The list is quite exhaustive in the English language.

However, what inspired me to rant on over here is why is there no pronoun specifically to mention God?

God is most often referred to as a He in most books of theology. Some books of new age and modern literature did attempt to use She but that was not well received. Gods of the Greek Era and Greek and Roman mythology were also “genderified”. Hindu mythology is similar. Personally, I don’t quite find myself relating to a God which has human characteristics. After all, God is God. The Omnipotent, The All Powerful.

And, this is what baffles me that why do we not have a pronoun to refer to God? May be we should.
