I canceled health insurance plans regularly

Company changed plans annually

I was general manager of a family owned business that cancelled health insurance plans almost every year.

So what’s the big deal about the 15% of the insured not through a company plan losing having their plan cancelled?

To keep health care premiums from rising more than 10% the company I worked for solicited quotes from competing insurers.
Usually it came down to just two companies that gave quotes that weren’t outrageous, so we bounced from insurer to insurer year after year.

Every time though, the plan changed for the worse: higher premiums, less coverage.

But technically we cancelled the plan annually. Employees had no say in the coverage the company offered.

So the few whiners that are not covered by a company paid health plan probably are better off if their plan got cancelled.

Yes, better off.

It was probably a crap health care plan anyway.
