A home is like an extended personality: it tells a story about you and your life, and is a place for rest, recovery, reflection, work and family.

Flipping through the pages, my wife @funsal instantly recognized this quote as a surprisingly precise portrayal of what she feels inside the very apartment she read the magazine.

We live in the US of A and we observe that America, including us and our friends, is overworking. For many, home is turning more and more into a hotel room. The (over)working class, eluded with the dream of owning a better house in the future, is postponing the personal touches and the feeling of joy at home along with them. It seems like happiness is to be searched outside the work, and outside the house.

Make no mistake. It is great joy to read a book sitting on the balcony of an over-the-water villa overlooking Caribbean, but there is no reason to fully reserve those feelings for exquisite trips we plan for a few nights every year. As we are writing these lines in our apartment personalized with a dozen frames of my shots on the walls, candles filling up rooms with different scents, our restaurant menu collection pinned on the fridge, and our lounge playlist #NowPlaying on Spotify, we feel that the apartment has really turned into an extension of our personalities.

Next time you find yourself searching for motivation to get through the day, think small and find ways to make your home reflect more of yourself. It will probably help.
