NoSQL matters Barcelona 2013
Or: Lambda Architecture everywhere
The overarching theme of the NoSQL matters appeared to be the Lambda Architecture: from the training day (see below) over Nathan Marz’s keynote to the Lambdoop talk … and many more mentions during multiple talks and in hallway discussions.
On the first day, some 20 people were at my Applying the Lambda Architecture training and it was both interesting and challenging.
Oh, btw, I’ve made the entire training material—including VirtualBox VM and instructions—now available for public download in the Apache Hadoop Playground folder over at Google Drive.
On the second day, Nathan Marz gave his keynote A call for sanity in NoSQL. I was told that both the slide deck and a recording of his talk will be made available, soon. Suggest to follow @NoSQLMatters to learn where.
The Lambda Architecture also had a prominent place in my talk Harnessing the Internet of Things with NoSQL which sparked some discussions in the following coffee break.
Summing up, NoSQL matters Barcelona 2013 was a very interesting event, good to see so many people sharing their experiences with NoSQL datastores and I’m looking forward to the next one. BTW, the CfP for the NoSQL matters Cologne 2014 is already out, now.
