Oh, the places I didn’t go
I’m an honest person so I’ll continue that theme here. I have no reason to lie. Here’s my confession…I haven’t seen much of what this world has to offer. Until recently I didn't mind that. Every year we go to Rosemary Beach, Florida and Hilton Head, SC or Disney World. Throw in a few weekend trips to Charleston or ATL each year and I’m a happy camper. My job has taken me to some of the big US cities so I can tick the box next to much of the lower 48 (and Hawaii). But, typically no more than 20 minutes away from an FBO.
Maybe it’s because time is running out. I’m struck with an overwhelming desire to go and see the beauty and majesty of God’s creation. A commercial for an Alaskan cruise shows people standing on an iceburg and I wondered why I hadn’t stood on an iceburg yet - or if I would ever stand on an iceburg. I did get the chance to see Hawaii, Barcelona, France and Italy. All good stuff. Not a lot of ice cubes in Europe.
Here is a short list of places I want to go or things I want to see before I die. It isn’t exhaustive and I reserve the right to change or add to it.
South Africa. Alaska. Grand Canyon. Fishing in Montana. Easter Island. Fiji. Dubai. Chile. San Francisco. Some lighthouse at the far north and east in Maine that I saw on Google Earth. Australia, New Zealand. Chenai. Israel. Also, I want to ride a motorcycle from the outer banks to some west coast city.
