Video game violence effects children

The Violence and the Game. Two difference facts in the same event. And this event is getting be calamity, day by day.

Every year, games which are including violence develop via the game producers such as world war games, killers etc. In the beginning, it was not a huge problem, because the graphic industry was not good at all. But it is quite better than the past. It is more realistic, more effective. So, these facts can affect the youth people easily when they play computer games or console games such as PlayStation, Game Cube, Nintendo DS or Xbox 360. However, the growth of the video games has not been without dispute. The contents of the games that feature violence, bloodbath, and antisocial behavior have jogged concern among parents, educators, child advocates, and policy makers. In addition, the target of the electronic game producers are youth people especially who study in high school. And, a video game also can lead to murder, because these games affect young people in a bad way. According to some researchers psychologists Craig Anderson and Karen Dill, who played more aggressive and games which is include more violence can be worse.

“The present research demonstrated that in both a correlational investigation using self-reports of real-world aggressive behaviors and an experimental investigation using a standard, objective laboratory measure of aggression, violent video game play was positively related to increases in aggressive behavior. In the laboratory, college students who played a violent video game behaved more aggressively toward an opponent than did students who had played a nonviolent video game. Outside the laboratory, students who reported playing more violent video games over a period of years also engaged in more aggressive behavior in their own lives. Both types of studies–correlational—real delinquent behaviors and experimental—laboratory aggressive behaviors have their strengths and weaknesses. The convergence of findings across such disparate methods lends considerable strength to the main hypothesis that exposure to violent video games can increase aggressive behavior. (Anderson, Craig & Dill, Karen)”

Actually, Grand Theft Auto is a video game which has sold more than 35 million copies, with worldwide sales approaching $ 2 billion. In this game, someone walk on the street and he can steel the cars, robbing or hitting to someone or killing (Wikipedia Devolopers). It is series game has got from 1 to 4 version. In the last version, you can also kill a police or police group with gun, especially with a single shot like a sniper. In Alabama, Devin Moore who is murderer of the three polices, in his evidence “I affected from the GTA game, I could kill polices and I wanted to try it”. I think, you cannot imagine this fact. But it is a real story . In addition to, in the USA, there is a new game which calls 25 to Life. And this game also has violence opposed to Polices. Even though these kind of game is can’t by youngest people but they can get it easly by illegal ways.

Also In Oakland, two young people killed to Steve Strickland’s brother. According to two young people evidences, they also effected from this game. “Two teenagers told police the game was an influence when they shot at passing cars with a .22 caliber rifle, killing one person. But to date, not a single court case has knowledged a link between virtual violence and the real thing.” “The question I have to ask the manufacturers of them is, ‘Why do you make games that target people that are to protect us, police officers, people that we look up to — people that I respect — with high admiration,’” says Strickland. “’Why do you want to market a game that gives people the thoughts, even the thoughts of thinking it’s OK to shoot police officers? Why do you wanna do that?’” On around the World several states are considering laws that must ban sale of violent games to under 17 (Correspondent Ed Bradley Reports).

According to another research which has done on the youth people, the game which is include violence effects our brain functions, so we can lose our control easily. In the research, randomly, 44 people has played some games which are of violent content for 30 minutes and their brains watched by Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). After the measures, on amigdalae area was more active among the people who played the game which had included violence than who played the game without violence (Scott A. Huettel, Allen W. Song, Gregory McCarthy).

Although there are many people who do not agree with these opinions, it is a real huge problem. We have to protect our children from this game. Otherwise, we can bring up a serial killer instead of a child. For decades now we play, watch or enjoy video games at first in our homes but nowadays all most everywhere. If the human brain watches something done over and over again, it may believes that it is right to do something even if its definitely wrong. This will apply for violence in any kind, even in video games. Governments, institutions and some parents are already aware of the danger coming from violence in the popular media so we should be too. Even on the most brutal game, there are ratings which we should watch out for so we don’t get used to the violence and don’t even obtain a violent game

In any case and every chance we have, we shall use to prevent violent content. It may or may not harm children but until the day comes, when it is finally proven, that violence in video games makes our kids much more aggressive then they are already, its better to avoid any kind of violence, so at the end, we can profit from it.
