Why I’m Waiting For a Smart watch?
useless or revolutionary
There’s lots of different opinions about smart watches as more rumors about companies are going to announce their smart watches to the market. Though there’s still not a single watch from a big company announced yet, we’re pretty sure smart watches are going to come out to the market within 2013. Since there are other watches making noises in the market, such as the popular Pebble watch and the I’m Watch.
So are people going to wear a smart watch when it really comes out? I’m quite sure I am. I have been waiting for a smart watch since last year, however the ones that came out are not as satisfactory in terms of performance and functionalities. There are people asking why the heck are we still wearing watches in 2013? Nowadays a smartphone does all the things that a watch does and doesn't do.
For me, I am still wearing a watch every day, just for telling time and date, nothing else. And I never thought of fishing my phone out for those tasks as a wave of the hand and I’m done instead of spending few more seconds to get to my phone, it’s just too slow for those tasks. What if more tasks can be done by just a wave of the hand? We can spend way more time for something more valuable instead of checking useless or non-urgent notifications. We could even save more time to interact with real friends and family around us instead of staring on the screen and swiping up and down Facebook because we have taken our phone out, why not see what our friends are up to.
A smart watch could definitely reduce our time spent on our smartphone and it might makes us more human like the old days. The technical problems that we might face is how conveniently and smoothly it can work and how it works. Battery life of the watch working with our phones will also be one of the critical factors whether smart watches would sell. So let’s see what Apple, Google, Samsung or Microsoft are bringing out to see how we’ll interact with our phones and with each other very soon.
