Last month many things have happened again around I/O Coin. Most of them were good but unfortunately we have some bad news as well. Let’s start off with the bad news so we can end on a positive note.

Last month we wrote that I/O Coin would be added to Binance’s Trust Wallet but after four months of development, having nearly finished the code and successfully completing several tests the team behind Trust Wallet decided to introduce new requirements, requirements I/O Coin cannot meet. However, the IOC devs decided to take the code, improve it (Trust Wallet has a lot of vulnerabilities) and release a separate mobile wallet for IOC so not all the work would be in vain.

On to the good news: new listing & more

Early in June it was announced that I/O Coin got listed on a new exchange and IOC now has a BTC pair on Mexico based AlteumX. Some of the main goals of AlteumX are to anchor the adoption of Blockchain in Latin America and facilitate access to and the use of crypto currencies. We believe IOC and AlteumX are a perfect fit for each other!

Also in June Matt Englund has been added to the IOC core team as Community Manager. In this role he will work on clear communication from the dev team to the community, further improve documentation and videos of all the great features the blockchain already has and he will also be the focal point for questions from the community. If Matt does not have the answer straight away he will ask the dev team and come back later. Matt’s addition to the core team also ensures that the dev team can stay more focused on development.

In the previous I/O News Update we mentioned that a community member is in contact with GoCharting to integrate IOC in their platform. Plans are being worked out and they have submitted a proposal to an exchange from which they are awaiting a response. More details will become available when the deals have been closed.

After four months of being used Jasper the tipbot in the Telegram chat has retired and has been replaced with the even smarter tipbot Obi-Wan. With Obi-Wan it is now possible to tip in smaller increments than 1 IOC and instead of having to leave 1 IOC in the tipbot when withdrawing funds now only 0.01 IOC is needed to cover transaction fees which will go to stakers. Obi-Wan is also a very wise tipbot, try it out by typing the /obi_wisdom command in the Telegram chat and watch what happens!

I/O Coin AMA Session 14th June

On the 14th of June an AMA session was held for the community on the Discord server. Below you can find some of the questions that were asked and answered. Did you miss it? Make sure to tune in to the next AMA on I/O Coin’s YouTube channel this Tuesday 2nd of July at 2:30 PM EST because we can expect some announcements to be made there!

Q: Will the mobile wallet that will be created by the development team also have DIONS features like messaging or only sending and receiving IOC?
A: It will have basic coin features (send/receive) as it was intended for Trust.

Q: Maybe it is quite early for it at this stage but would the mobile wallet be able to stake?
A: This is a possibility for the future, we had a community member working with Matt on a staking wallet for Android but our release will be a light client.

Q: Are ring sigs still on the roadmap?
A: Yes, this will anonymize transactions for IOC and add a top layer of privacy to document transfers and transfers between users of our encrypted messaging.

Q: When is the staking reward ‘halving’ planned?
A: Halving for IOC rewards will happen this year.
[After the AMA it was announced that the halving will take place on 1st of December 2019 and a count-down clock has been added to the I/O Coin website.]

Do you have anything to add or do you have a question? The Telegram chat is the place to go. You can also find more info on the websites of the I/O Digital Foundation, I/O Coin and Chameleon Ledger. If you are a developer and you want to help a hand, the I/O Coin GitHub is a good place to start.
