i’m not interested in how love ought to be.
i want to know how we love
in this current state.
we love others without perfection, tangled
with how we’ve been loved,
with how we’ve loved ourselves

i’m not interested in how we should love
i want to know in how we do, and the times
we don’t.
i’m interested in how that love undulates
out into others, out
into the world,
out, and then back in,
to us.

i’m interested in the way we love, now.
