What’s been going on?
So, I’ve been crazy busy living life, writing and doing both with love in mind. Mostly I’ve been working on my new novellas, The Ivyhurst Series, with the first installment, Living Love, just released.
Living in a love vacuum isn’t healthy
If you’ve ever read my books you know I have a lot of stuff beyond the couple in love. Lots of secondary characters to keep things interesting. Because I really don’t think love can survive in a vacuum. Life will throw things, and people, in the way of love.
Sometimes no matter how much we love, those things, people or situations simply make love impossible. Or force us to make a choice between those things and love. So I called my latest book Living Love because it’s one thing to fall in love, it’s another to live in it when things get hard.
Living with the elephant
One of the biggest reasons for divorce in the U.S. is money problems. It’s hard staying in love when you’re broke. That’s not talked about much in romance because in most of them money isn’t a thing. Complications related to lack of money are either never mentioned or are the impetus for a relationship (inheritance story, anyone). In fact, there’s a whole sub-genre of billionaire romances because you know … there are billionaires around every corner.
I ain’t hatin’. I love to read stories about a world with no money problems, too. But my latest ain’t one of them. Living in today’s world means possibly living under some financial constraints. I decided not to ignore the elephant and, instead, handed it to a nice couple with a child and set them in a fictional town called Ivyhurst. I’ve always been the generous sort.
Living life in love
Every woman deserves extraordinary love. That’s what my blog is about. It’s why I encourage women to buy gifts for themselves…
…and it’s what my romances show (I hope). But that doesn’t mean things don’t get difficult sometimes. Real love is about figuring out how to overcome the hard stuff together. Provided it’s not ridiculous stuff, of course. Ain’t nobody got time for ridiculous.
Love is wonderful, strong and resilient. And living love means finding a way to make even the most bitter pill easier to swallow. If that pill is worth it, of course.
