Episode #5: Block-Chainnnz❗️

--

So… Blockchain 🌐 By now, everyone’s heard of it, and anyone in just about any business, knows someone using it. But what is it, and why is it everywhere??? In this episode we’re going full-on blockchain — giving you resources that break it down, make it understandable — and relatable — for even the most un experienced block-curious amongst you😉

But first — some really smart sounding blockchain-centric current events for you to share on your socials

Why’d the chicken cross the node? 🐔 😁

First, three claps for Tyson Foods👏 👏 👏, the single largest processor of meat in the United States, for being a legacy brand with a future forward culture. Not only are they expanding into the meatless protein market — they’re re constructing their supply chain system to include blockchain protocol 🙌

My PII isn’t OPP 🙅

As we watched 🍿 Mark Zuckerburg being publicly stoned by the government during User-Privacy Gate 2018 — we also began thinking more about just how much we’re sharing when we share photos, or simply fill in the fields on a “join us” page. Well blockchain is coming through with a cape and some encryption to save our over exposed bottoms 🍑

They accept your hillbilly jokes, and raise you a blockchain voting protocol 👊

West Virginia is out here being ‘wild and wonderful’ [that’s their actual state slogan and I ♥️ it] as the very first state to offer mobile balloting❗️This is a big order for blockchain with a side of re-brand for the state 🏆

block·chain

/ˈbläkˌCHān/
noun
a digital ledger in which transactions made in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency are recorded chronologically and publicly.

As Kairos dived into development of our blockchain offering, I was tasked with writing about why migration to blockchain was so important, and why businesses — smart businesses — should get on board. So for me, understanding this ‘brand new’ technology that had gone all the way mainstream, all of a sudden, wasn’t just good for my investment interests — it had quickly become a crucial part of my job 😳

To be clear, at the time I had no idea what the hell a blockchain was. At all. I mean to be honest, I’m a writer who wondered into tech — not the other way around 🙃 So I read. And read. And made devs explain it to me — repeatedly. Today, via my accelerated ad-hock education in blockchain, I’ve mastered a first class, super basic understanding😆 That said, I could really impress you with my fancy blockchain break-down, but I reserve that for confusing my friends and impressing my parents 💁 So check out these links that really helped me on my road to blockchain consciousness.

My first step in the direction of understanding blockchain, was relating the way it works to something I did understand. The guys at Blockgeeks do a great job of this 🙌

I also found that learning more about blockchain use cases other than crypto currencies, gave me a panoramic view of the technology. The folks at IBM have obviously invested a lot of time, and money, in decentralization — and the blockchain use case/real world systems stuff on their site is some of the best I’ve seen 🙌
