Adding Markdown Tables

Tables in Markdown? Are you kidding? We are dead serious. iA Writer 3.1.3 managed to simplify one of the harder things in Markdown. Adding a markdown table doesn’t require major hacker skills anymore.

• Tap the Table key in the keyboard bar and set the desired number of rows and columns
• The required Markdown for the table is created for you instantly

Making markdown tables on a smart phone is really hard. It’s not a walk in the park now, but it is easier than it looks:

Click on Table shortcut in the Keyboard extension reveals a table configurator…

Hold the I key in the keyboard bar to reveal the Table shortcut. You can move it to the default row if you plan to use it regularly. Here is an easy video tutorial on how to configure your keyboard:

We suggest that you do work on tables with live preview open in parallel so you see directly what happens. Try it.
