The world is changing thanks to Information Technology; the world is now much more socially, digitally and globally. First of all, it is more social, because 10 years ago there were no social networks that today allow the interaction of more than a billion people and a network extended to the world. Secondly, it is more digital, due to the development of new technologies.

What are the “New Technologies”?

The Internet of Things (IoT), cloud technology, advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, data science and many others.

For the IT industry, the main resource is human talent. In this sense, the skills required are the drivers for the development of highly skilled jobs and IT is a catalyst for innovation and productivity in companies.

The global software market grew by 9.3% in 2014 to reach a value of $617.5 billion. The global software market is expected to reach a value of $899.5 billion by 2019, representing a 45.7% growth from 2014.

Networking and database management niches are the largest segment of the global software market, representing 23.9% of the total market value. Competition within the software market is driven by constant advances in technology, the presence of large international players and new business models that force companies to generate more competitive strategies.

The outsourcing services segment will contribute more than half of the market growth, which is estimated to be worth $1.1 billion in 2018. On the other hand, outsourcing services are the largest segment of the global IT services industry, representing 26.8% of the industry’s total value.

The IT services market is evolving to offer services that improve productivity and efficiency, such as outsourcing services, and to provide services with greater added value such as consulting, big data, and analytics, among others.

Services have become globalized and the trend is to generate more automated services that improve people’s lives.
